Terrace Houses: 51-65 Station Street, Enmore. Sydney, New South Wales

This row of eight single storey Italianate style Sydney terraced houses marching up a slight include displays some fairly unique attributes.  Their most interesting feature is the prominent arched Italianate style doorways with their elaborate acanthus mouldings and the prominent party walls and chimneys.  Read more... Albert Terrace: 204-218 Carrington Street, Adelaide. South Australia

Albert Terrace is one of the largest Victorian terraces ever built in Adelaide. The large graceful row of nine double storey terraced houses erected in 1880 is typical of the Adelaide style with its bluestone and cream render but features a high central Italianate parapet which breaks front more inkeeping with similar sized Melbourne terraces.  Read more... Drummond Terrace. 93-105 Drummond Street. Carlton, Victoria

Drummond Terrace (built 1890-1891 to the design of Walter Scott Law) is the longest and largest three storey terrace row in Melbourne in one of Carlton’s most terraced wide streets.  The row of seven triple storey terraces features long rendered loggia of round arches and balustrades, notably deviating from the popular filligree style of the period. A central free classical pediment and blind porthole marks the mid terrace, while interesting false chimney motifs mark the mid point of each individual terrace in the row.  Read more... Terrace Houses: 12-18 Fitzroy Street, Surry Hills. Sydney, New South Wales

Shown here are some Surry Hills working class terraces which are build right up to the property line and march up a subtly sloping inner city street. Their facades are bare with the exception of the ledges with their little brackets and the mouldings designed to throw rain off the double hung windows and the unsympathetically harsh but necessary security grilles on the doors and windows.  Read more... Hollyford: 57 St Vincent Place Sth, Albert Park. Melbourne, Victoria

Hollyford is a spectacular double fronted Victorian villa in the terrace style found overlooking Albert Parks beautiful St Vincents Gardens.  Built in 1873 in polychrome brick and render, this single storey terraced house features incredible detail typically associated with the Melbourne “boom style”.  Read more...
